Here’s Me Here: Further Reflections of a Lapsed Protestant features a wide and thought-provoking selection of Glenn Patterson’s writings. With his trademark wit and intelligence, Patterson offers his wry take on life on this planet – from Northern Ireland to Berlin, from Warsaw to Dublin and back again to Belfast.

Boldly written with fresh perspectives, Here’s Me Here is packed with charm and honesty, humour and cutting insight.

About the Author Glenn Patterson, award-winning writer and broadcaster, was born in Belfast in 1961. He is the author of nine novels: Burning Your Own (1988), Fat Lad (1992), Black Night at Big Thunder Mountain (1995), The International (1999), Number 5 (2003), That Which Was (2004), The Third Party (2007), The Mill for Grinding Old People Young (2012), and The Rest Just Follows (2014), and a memoir, Once Upon a Hill: Love in Troubled Times (2008). A previous collection of journalistic writings, Lapsed Protestant, was published by New Island in 2006. He lives here, or there.

Reviews:

Patterson blends anecdote with pithy political points to good effect....The reader wonders if this collection is borne of that need to graft, observe and catalogue that Patterson displays throughout his work...The finest moments happen when the personal and the political collide...Patterson will never be stuck for words, and that benefits all of us.
— Dublin Inquirer
Patterson is that rare thing - a writer whose deadpan humour makes serious journalism and opinion pieces compulsive reading. Although experiences elsewhere are engagingly covered in this collection, Patterson’s at his witty insightful best when back in his native Belfast, even when chronicling that most unfunny of subjects, the Troubles. It’s the way he tells them.
— Irish Mail on Sunday
Glenn Patterson is a national treasure.
— Ian Sansom
Clear-eyed and compassionate.
